It is a small, creeping herb often found in moist, shaded areas. It has slender, prostrate stems that root at the nodes, enabling it to spread across the ground. The leaves are opposite, ovate, and usually have a smooth margin. Tiny, pale-blue to white flowers emerge singly in the leaf axils, adding to its ornamental appeal.

It is applied topically to treat skin ailments and minor infections.
