It is an evergreen to semi-deciduous tree with a dense, rounded crown. Its leaves are pinnately compound with 4-8 pairs of glossy, leathery leaflets that are lanceolate to oval. The tree produces small, fragrant, yellowish-green flowers in clusters. The fruit is a large, woody capsule that splits open to release winged seeds.

The bark is used to treat fever and digestive disorders.
