Descriptions

It is a large shrub or small tree. Leaves are simple, opposite, entire, and usually ovate to elliptic in shape. The plant has slender stems with smooth bark. Flowers are small and white, borne in axillary clusters or sometimes solitary. They have five petals. Fruits are berry- like and orange to reddish-orange when ripe, hence the common name "Orangeberry." They are typically spherical or slightly flattened and contain several seeds embedded in pulp.
