Descriptions

It is a tall, fast-growing evergreen tree. It has a slender, conical shape and a rough, dark-gray to brownish bark. The tree's distinctive needle-like branchlets, which resemble pine needles, are actually modified stems called cladodes. The true leaves are tiny, scale-like structures found at the joints of the branchlets. It produces small, cone-like woody fruits.
