It has four-angled winged stems. Leaves are broad ovate, toothed trilobe, appear at the nodes. Each has a tendril emerging from the opposite side of the node. It has reddish flower buds that open to white petals. Fruits are ovoid, turning red when ripe.

It has been used in traditional Indian medicine as a pain reliever and a treatment for broken bones.
