It is a sprawling shrub that can reach heights of up to 2-3 meters. It features glossy, dark green, oval to oblong leaves that are oppositely arranged on the stems. The plant produces small, fragrant, white flowers with a tubular shape and prominent purple stamens. The flowers are often clustered in terminal or axillary inflorescences. Its fruit is a small, globose drupe that turns black when mature.

It is used for ornamental purposes.
