It is a deciduous tree with a straight trunk and a spreading crown. Its leaves are simple, opposite, and ovate to elliptic. The flowers are small, yellowish-white, and arranged in dense clusters at the end of branches. The fruit is a small, round, woody capsule containing numerous seeds.

Root decoction is used to treat stomach worm. It is also values for its timber.
