It is a deciduous shrub or small tree with multiple stems and a rounded, bushy appearance. The leaves are glossy, narrow, and lance-shaped, arranged oppositely or in small clusters along the stems. The plant produces vibrant orange-red flowers with prominent, tubular petals. Fruits are tough, leathery skin that ranges in color from yellowish to deep red.
