Descriptions

It is a small to medium-sized tree. The bark is thin, smooth, and light brown when young, but as the tree matures, it becomes thicker and develops characteristic vertical fissures. Leaves are oval-shaped, smooth, leathery, and arranged alternately. They are dark green on the upper surface and lighter green underneath. Flowers are small, yellowish-green in color arranged in clusters. The flowers are fragrant and have six petals. Fruit is small, berry-like drupe that turns dark purple to black when ripe.
