Descriptions

It is a small tree. Bark is usually rough and may be grayish-brown in color. It has thorny branches. Leaves are simple, alternate, and usually ovate to elliptic in shape, with serrated margins. Flowers are small, inconspicuous, and greenish-white to pale yellow in color. They are borne in clusters or racemes along the branches. Fruit is a drupe, typically spherical to ovoid in shape, green in color and turns purple or black as it ripens contains a single seed surrounded by a fleshy pulp.
