Descriptions

Leaves are simple, subsessile, and closely set along branchlets, light green, and resembling pinnate leaves. The flowers are small, greenish-yellow, and have six segments but no real petals. The fruit is nearly spherical, light greenish yellow, quite smooth, and hard on appearance, with six vertical stripes or furrows.

The fruit is a constituent of triphala. It is cultivated for its edible fruits. Dry fruits powder is used to treat indigestion.
