It is a perennial climbing herb with a woody stem. The leaves are broadly ovate, heart-shaped, and smooth with a slightly wavy margin. They have prominent veins on the underside, giving a distinct texture. The flowers are small, yellowish-green, and unisexual, typically found in axillary clusters. The plant produces small, round, black or red berries as fruits.

It is traditionally used to treat fevers, urinary tract infections, and digestive issues. It is also known for its anti-inflammatory and diuretic properties.
